Hi Meic,

A boy is bullying me and I need help. I hate it and I don’t know what to do. 😞

Meic’s Advice

Hi Megan,

First of all I’m really sorry to hear that you are going through this at the moment. Bullying can be a tough thing for a young person to experience and can cause you to feel bad about yourself. This is not ok.

Bullying or banter?

Sometimes people might say something that hurts you but they might not realise that they’ve done this. It’s important therefore to let them know that this has upset you, as they might like to apologise. Bullying is when someone does something to you repeatedly, and they know that this is hurting you. Check out Meic’s Banter or Bullying? article to see if what you are experiencing is bullying or not.

You have rights

Young people across Wales have a right not to be bullied. If you are experiencing this then there are lots of things that can be done to try and sort this out. Check out this A Right Not To Be Bullied article on Meic where we talk through your rights.

Advice and guidance

We also have tips for you and your parents in the 6 Steps To Take When Being Bullied video below, or take a look at the article here. The best place to start is talking to someone about it – a parent/guardian, teacher or other trusted adult. If you feel you can’t talk to anyone then you can contact us at the Meic helpline to talk it through. We’re here everyday between 8am and midnight. 😀
