Love your Lungs Week 2025

This week marks Love Your Lungs Week (23–27 June 2025), a national campaign by Asthma and Lung UK dedicated to raising awareness and encouraging action for better lung health.

Why this week matters

Lung disease affects more people than heart disease and cancer combined and almost everyone likely to experience a lung condition in their lifetime, so this week is important.

The focus this year is on creating healthier habits. Simple changes like choosing the stairs over the lift, walking or cycling to work or school, or taking a “fresh air hour” everyday can all contribute to better lung health. These small but meaningful actions can improve our physical health and also help reduce pollution and improve the air we breathe.

Disposable vape ban in the UK

The campaign this year comes at a very relevant time, following a major public health decision in the UK. From June 1st 2025, the sale of disposable vapes has been officially banned in the UK. The vape ban supports the same goals as the campaign: giving everyone, especially the younger generation, the message that lung health matters.

Vaping is promoted as a less harmful alternative to smoking, but research has raised questions about the safety of disposable vapes, especially due to their high nicotine content and appeal to young people, who didn’t previously smoke.
