Deleting your internet history
When you visit websites using a web browser such as Internet Explorer, your computer stores the website address in a folder. This address information can be viewed by other people who can see that you have visited websites such as MEIC.
A web browser is the software you use to surf through the internet and deleting the history depends on which web browser you are using. Look at the picture below identify which browser you are using and click on it for instruction on clearing the browser.
Deleting your internet history in Internet Explorer 8
- Near the top right of the screen look for the word ‘Safety’ and click on it
- From the drop down menu, click on ‘Delete Browsing History’ and a window will appear
- Make sure there is a tick in the boxes next to ‘Temporary Internet Files’, ‘Cookies’ and ‘History’
- Click on ‘Delete’
- Close Internet Explorer by clicking on the red in the top right corner
Deleting your internet history in Firefox 3.5
- Click on ‘Tools’, from the dropdown menu click on ‘Clear Recent History’ and a window will appear
- From the ‘Time range to clear:’ dropdown box, select the time period you want to delete. If you are unsure select ‘Everything’
- Make sure there is a tick in the boxes next to ‘Browsing and Download History, ‘Form and Search History’, Cookies and ‘Cache’
- Then click on the ‘Clear Now’ button
- Close Firefox by clicking on the x in the top right corner
Deleting your internet history in Safari 4
- Click on the cog picture near the top right hand corner
- From the dropdown menu, click on ‘Reset Safari’ and a window will appear
- Make sure that there are ticks in the boxes next to ‘Clear history’, ‘Empty the cache’ and ‘Remove all cookies’
- Click on the ‘Reset button’
- Close Safari by clicking on the x in the top right corner
Deleting your internet history in Chrome 4
- Click on the Spanner picture near the top right corner and a dropdown menu will appear
- Click on ‘History’ and a History tab will appear
- Look for day you want to clear and click on ‘Delete history for this day’
- A window will appear asking is you are sure you want to delete the pages, click on the ‘OK’ button
- Close Chrome by clicking on the x in the top right corner
Deleting your internet history in Opera 10
- Click on the ‘Tools’ dropdown menu
- Click on ‘Delete Private Data’ and a window will appear
- Click on the arrow next to Detailed options which will expand the window
- Make sure the ticks in the boxes next to ‘Delete all temporary cookies’, ‘Delete all cookies’, ‘Delete entire cache’ and ‘Clear history of visited pages’
- Click on the ‘Delete’ button
- Close Opera by clicking on the x in the top right corner
